6.1 Purposes Of
Practicum
The purpose of this
practicum is to prepare good teachers in the future to teach better and better
prepare themselves to become teachers in the future. Through this program can
improve English language skills, communication to new people, and have a good
relationship with others. In addition, through this program also exchanges of
students know a different culture with their country, adapt to the new environment
and respect the culture of other countries.
6.2 Procedures Of
Practicum
As long as I practice
teaching in Science and Technology - Laboratory School, my cooperating teacher
is Ma'am Analyn C. Sa-an the teacher taught me a lot about practicum procedures
in this school, besides there are also coordinators in college of education
Ma'am Shailini Gestosani who notifies the procedure in one month's internship

6.3 Outcomes Of
Practicum
The practice of
teaching made me get a lot of new knowledge and new experiences about teaching
students.
Practice teaching can
improve English language skills
The practical teacher
can experience the new culture from the difference country.
The practical teacher
gains more knowledge regarding to the teaching skills and pedagogy.
6.4 The Challenges Of
Practicum
The challenge for me when practicing teaching at
the Science and Technology - Laboratory School is time management. My class
teaches and classes before biological material are located far apart so
students are a little late to come, and sometimes other teachers are still in
the class that I will teach. So I have to wait for my students for about 5 to
10 minutes. Besides that, the lesson plan in this school is very detailed so
that sometimes the time is not enough to carry out all the procedures in the
lesson plan. And my cooperating teacher said that my voice was very small so
sometimes students did not hear it, because in this school there were 50
students in different classes with my country which usually in one class 36
students were the most.
Another
challenge is language barriers, because sometimes students find difficulties in
understanding my English because there are differences in pronunciation between
Indonesia and the Philippines in English. So, I have to try very hard to make
students really understand what I'm talking about in class. To overcome the
language barrier I also tried to adapt to the pronunciation of Filipino
English. Sometimes the my cooperating teacher explains again in Filipino
language so that students understand what is being taught.
6.5 Overall Impression
Overall my impression
of this program is very good. Because we have new friends and new families who
come from different countries, have new experiences, different cultures with
their own countries, improve their ability to speak English, improve technical
knowledge in teaching students. In addition, study the lesson plan that is
different from the country itself. It's a good project and I hope it's a lot of
interest and be able to join this program.
6.6 Suggestion For
Future Improvement
Suggestions for future
improvements in Sea-Teacher are that the University will be visited by exchange
student Sea-Teacher to inform about the curriculum and topics taught. So that
exchange students better prepare themselves before joining the program and when
implementing this program are better prepared.
